Get Rid of the Term, “I Should Have” and Move Forward Quicker
This week’s Vlog discusses the destructive habit of using the term, “I should have.”
Not only does this term do you no good in terms of moving forward, but it actually keeps you stuck. “Should” is an instrument of regret and guilt.
Click on the image below to watch this week’s Vlog and learn how to flip this term into
something more effective for change and improvement.
Beating up on yourself by saying, “I should go to the gym,” “I should have started sooner,” “I should have said ‘no’,” “I should have tried harder,” or “I should have ordered a salad,” is self sabotaging. It keeps you stuck in the past and causes you to have a negative self image of who you are as a person.
Keep the emotion out of past mistakes by removing the term “should have” and replacing it with “could have.” This keeps things in perspective by viewing it as factual, versus assigning judgement and blame.
